“I´ve
met Ernesto Berra over ten years ago. At the moment, I realize
that not only did I find myself before a great artist, but also
an exceptional human being.
“A
few years passed until I had the opportunity to welcome that austere
and persistent artist into my gallery for the first time. This encounter
enriched us both. How could I not feel grateful for having been
chosen to exhibit his walls and facades that latter crossed over
our borders to reach th United States and Europe. From then on,
we took part in all possible events together, at solo and collective
exhibitions, in arteBA, and the Expotrastiendas fair.
“Ernesto
Berra is a creator who inherited the skill to work wood, a skill
which was later enriched with other materials, such us sheet metal,
clth, wire and sizing, not only creating but also playing, producing
works that belong to a personal architectural sphere. He is a great
innovator with cloth: he paints it, rips it, restores ot. Not only
does he rely on it, but alsoadds it to his work. The colors draw
us into the landscape of Cordoba with its hills of brown and green,
and skies of blue, yellow, red and orange.
“Viewing
Berra´s works, the emotion one feels is nourished by his quiet
and provincial nature. His growth as an artist is upheld by beinf
founded on sobriet, far from the media chatter, which secures his
excellence through appropriateness and talen.
“In
almost thirty years in the gallery business, I have come across
many artists: from acclaimed ones such us Antonio Berni to youngsters
who have just begun art school. However, in my entire career I cannot
remember achieving a communion of work and frienship as with Berra.
“I
am very grateful to Ernesto Berra for having chosen my gallery to
exhibit his works, and above all for having chosen me as a friend."
